About WGPC

The West Georgia Psychiatric Center, WGPC, was developed in 1996 by the collaborative efforts of three New York-trained, board-certified psychiatrists--

Dr. Kenneth J. Genova,
Dr. Gwyn Taylor Akers, and
Dr. Joel I. Kirson.

From the beginning, their goal was the establishment of a multi-disciplinary treatment center that would provide exceptional quality mental health care for individuals of all ages in LaGrange, Georgia and the surrounding communities.
A short while after its inception, the WGPC management corporation welcomed the further affiliation of a highly regarded Psychologist in the community, Dr. Ronald Cole.
Since then, the WGPC has drawn a number of skilled clinicians who have chosen to locate their private practices at this site, including at present three other psychiatrists, another psychologist, numerous masters' level therapists, doctoral candidate students, and numerous ancillary staff. WGPC is proud to serve as a practicum site for the Georgia School of Professional Psychology (Argosy University).

Individuals of all ages and backgrounds are served at the WGPC, as well as residents not only of LaGrange and other areas in Georgia, but also individuals who travel from other states. The diversity of services provided, coupled together with the diversity of independent practicing clinicians located on-site, allows the WGPC to provide comprehensive mental health care to those who seek it.
